Medical Director for the Medical Intensive Care Unit

Critical Care Physician Advisor

Our organization is in search of a seasoned Critical Care physician with both leadership and academic expertise to drive program development, enhance quality care, and foster academic innovation. This role is based at our flagship medical center, which is affiliated with a prominent medical college.

• Active ABIM certification in Critical Care Medicine, accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience and consistent involvement in direct patient care.
• A proven history of academic contributions, including publications and clinical research.
• Experience in leading teams focused on evidence-based critical care protocols.
• Ability to lead and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

As the Medical Director for the Medical Intensive Care Unit, you will undertake the following administrative responsibilities:

• Supervise the organization of the medical intensive care physician and nurse practitioner team.
• Enhance quality and efficiency through process improvements, guideline implementation, and leadership within the ICU and relevant committees.
• Create an optimal environment for both undergraduate and graduate education and training for Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Fellowships.
• Facilitate ongoing continuing medical education for physicians, nurses, and other professionals in the ICU.
• Lead and support the development of clinical research projects, publications, and trials within the ICU setting.
• Ensure compliance with all Leapfrog, TJC, and CMS initiatives as necessary.
• Provide regular updates to leadership and hospital committees regarding activities and performance metrics.
